Atlanta native Connie Hagler  was a university biology lab researcher and director of an area canoe and kayak club before she went into business for herself with a CMIT Solutions franchise. Her work with her husband’s small business and longtime love of technology — she’s a Georgia Tech graduate, after all — convinced her that managed services IT for small businesses was a field with massive growth potential.

Q. Why CMIT Solutions?
A. I love technology, and we were looking around for ways to improve the technology at BBI because our server was old, the system kept crashing, things like that. So when we came across CMIT Solutions, Richard said, “We’re going to buy that service even if we don’t buy the franchise.” CMIT did the install for him before I even started training. Pretty quickly, we realized the model is something that’s really, truly needed for small and mid-sized businesses to stay competitive.
Q. What has been the most surprising thing about owning a CMIT Solutions franchise?
A. Just how easy it’s been to sell the service. It almost sells itself. We went to talk to our accountant, his system was overloaded, his server kept going down. This was exactly what he needed. What the CMIT home office said would happen when we approached clients with our value proposition really and truly did happen.

Q. Why would you recommend a CMIT Solutions franchise for someone interested in opening a business?
A. It’s something that’s truly needed in our country right now, so it’s a very rewarding thing to do, helping small businesses that are the heart and soul of this country be more competitive. The model is great; the support is fantastic. It’s one of those things that I think is about to take off, so it’s a tremendous opportunity for someone thinking about purchasing a franchise.

An Interview With CMIT Solutions of NW Columbus President Anil Vadhi

Anil Vadhi is the son of a civil servant and teacher from the southern Indian city of Hyderabad. Vadhi came to the United States in 1995 on a student visa and earned a master’s degree in computer science, then worked for an insurance company in Ohio for nearly a decade before deciding he needed a career that let him live a life.

Q. What do you like best about CMIT Solutions’ franchise opportunity?
A. For me it’s very flexible. I have a good base of clients. The previous owner still helps me out; he works as a consultant for me. I have a good technician. It’s so flexible that I can stop doing what I’m doing to pick up my kids from school and take them to activities. I also manage my wife’s dental practices, so it allows me the flexibility to do that.
Q. Why would you recommend a CMIT Solutions franchise for someone interested in opening a business?
A. The corporate office has set up a good infrastructure for you. It’s a very good thing. You just need to be able to sell the services to your customers, and they’re not hard to sell. We provide small businesses with 24/7 monitoring for a very small monthly fee, and we have partnerships with Dell, get very good discounts and pass them on to the customers. These are the agreements set up through the corporate office that help everyone, that help you succeed.
